Why the blog?

I write as the Spirit moves me. I have prayed about what I'm supposed to do with my life a lot. A lot. Writing. Writing is what I believe God is leading me to do. Whether or not He wants me to write for anyone to read is His business. Much of my writing has been therapy for me so maybe I'm the only one who is supposed to read it. So, why the Blog? As a sounding board, a note pad, a place to keep my ideas and thoughts. A place to share and promote my books, and photography. Written prayers, a place to vent. Possibly, even a place for the unknown reader to learn about the love of Jesus.

Flower Art

Normally, I'm not a fan of cut flowers.  They smell good and are very pretty, for a few days.  Then, they wither and die and I feel terrible throwing away something that someone, like my husband or a good friend, took the time to pick out, purchase, and give to me.  Being the creative type that I am, I have found a new way to preserve the beauty that God created.  Here's the latest installment of Flower Art.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.”

And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.  And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

Genesis 1: 1-13

I had a lot of fun tearing the flowers apart and creating this picture.  The hardest part was taking the pictures.  I had to stand on a tall stool (while praying I didn't fall) and lean over.

Which shot is your favorite?  I haven't decided but I still have the original on the floor.  Will be sad to clean up and throw it away.

  1. I am not really a fan of the different ways to present photos that is popular now, so whatever is the "regular" photo would be the best for me.

Lovely idea to use the flowers and take a photo with scripture.

Could you dry the petals and then cover it with glass or something? Seems a shame to go through all that and then not keep it.

Nice to meet you through Deb Eckerling's FB page!

  2. Hi Sally. I'm one of those who likes to manipulates photographs to see what different lighting will do. My son is an avid photographer and we swap pictures this way and critique each other. (He is in Korea).

The artwork is on a mirror and I'm not sure I want to preserve it. Besides I use that mirror, hence the dozens of pictures!

    Thanks for the comment.
